How to clean your makeup brushes

Hey everyone,

Today I will show you how to clean your makeup brushes. It is very important to clean them regularly, otherwise they will get dirty and not cleaning it will ultimately decrease the lifespan of the brushes.
To clean them I use two different products: brush soap and baby shampoo. I use the brush soap after each use and the baby shampoo once a week to thoroughly clean them. Step-by-step instructions after the jump.

Daily:
  1. Put the bristles under lukewarm running tap water. Make sure that the handle is facing upwards, otherwise the water will run inside the handle and this will lead to the bristles falling out.
  2. Rub the bristles on the soap bar (not too hard as this might damage them)

  1. Once the soap bar looks dirty, rinse it and repeat until the lather stays white.
  2. Rinse the brush with lukewarm water (keep the handle above the bristles).
  3. Leave the brush to dry on a towel, making sure that the handle is higher than the bristles (I fold the end of the towel a few times so that I can lean the brush against something.
NOTE: A lot of people just spray their brushes with a daily cleansing spray, but I don't think this works as well because the make-up does not get washed off.

Weekly:
This is pretty similar to the daily routine, but then with a different product

  1. Put the bristles under lukewarm running tap water. Make sure that the handle is facing upwards, otherwise the water will run inside the handle and this will lead to the bristles falling out.
  2. Apply some baby shampoo in the palm of your hand.
  3. Rub the brush in it and use your fingers as a "washboard".
  4. Once the lather is dirty, rinse the brush and repeat until no more product comes off
  5. Rinse the brush thoroughly with lukewarm water (keep the handle above the bristles).
  6. Leave the brush to dry on a towel, making sure that the handle is higher than the bristles (I fold the end of the towel a few times so that I can lean the brush against something.
I hope this post was useful for you guys!

xoxo Dutch Gurl
